Bachelors of Science in Design
The Department of Architecture offers two curriculum options leading to the Bachelor of Science in Design degree -- one Architectural Studies, the other Interior Design. Both Architectural Studies and Interior Design are 129 credit hour programs of study. It normally takes four years to complete these programs.
The BSD curriculum begins with a two- year basic design core. This core introduces students to visual literacy and design fundamentals. These first two years are referred to as pre-architecture and pre-interior design. Upon completion of the first two years and before continuing with one’s study of architecture or interior design, a student must apply to the third year of study. The application for third year is due February 1st.
In both options of the BSD degree program, a prescribed course progression, and related course prerequisites, is imperative. Failure to follow the proper sequence (pre-interior, pre-architecture) may result in an added year of study. Consult the above sites for a course chart to help in your planning.
